Investment Principal – Mid Market Private Equity


Overview

A growing private equity platform is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking investment professional to join as a Principal and help build and scale a new strategy focused on acquiring and growing small- and medium-sized businesses within a specific vertical. This individual will take a leading role across the full investment lifecycle while helping shape the long-term direction of an emerging business line. The environment is collegial, dynamic, and highly entrepreneurial—ideal for someone who wants to combine hands-on investing with strategic business building.


What You'll Do

In this role, you will:

  • Lead investment activities within a dedicated strategy or industry vertical, including sourcing opportunities, conducting due diligence, building financial models, valuing businesses, assessing markets, and structuring transactions.
  • Drive post-acquisition value creation by spearheading operational improvements and growth initiatives across portfolio companies.
  • Mentor junior team members through all phases of the deal process, supporting their development while effectively leveraging team capabilities.
  • Play a central role in scaling a new investment strategy, helping shape investment processes and non-investment workflows, with a strong emphasis on data-driven and AI-enabled approaches to traditional private equity activities.


Who We're Looking For

Ideal candidates will bring:

  • A bachelor's degree or higher and a record of strong academic and professional performance.
  • Five to eight years of private equity experience, ideally within the lower-middle market or small-business acquisition space.
  • Experience leading multiple transactions end-to-end; background in roll-ups, add-ons, or platform expansion strategies is highly preferred.
  • A demonstrated track record of successful deal execution, value creation, and post-acquisition operational improvement.
  • Strong leadership and mentorship abilities, excellent communication skills, and sound commercial judgment.
  • An innovative, problem-solving mindset with the ability to enhance processes, create efficiencies, and collaborate with senior leaders on strategy.
  • A growth-oriented approach and experience developing or implementing scaling strategies for acquisition platforms.
