Project Manager – Commercial Ground Up and Medical Construction

Location: Austin, Texas

Salary: up to 160,000 base + bonus

A well-regarded commercial contractor in Austin is seeking an experienced Project Manager to support its continued expansion across ground up, medical, and broader commercial construction. The company has established a strong presence in the Austin market with a reputation for disciplined project governance, dependable delivery, and long-term client partnerships. While the business originally built its name in corporate interiors, its current trajectory is firmly centred on larger scale commercial and healthcare developments ranging from 5M to 30M.

This position oversees the full lifecycle of ground up and commercial builds. You will lead project planning, scheduling, cost control, procurement, subcontractor oversight, and quality assurance. You will act as a key liaison with clients, architects, and consultants, maintaining clarity, risk awareness, and decisive management from preconstruction through closeout. The role demands strong technical judgement, an ability to direct field operations in tandem with office coordination, and a commitment to delivering precision in complex build environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage ground up and commercial construction projects from inception to completion
• Oversee schedules, budgets, subcontractor performance, and procurement
• Interpret drawings, specifications, RFIs, and submittals with strong technical accuracy
• Maintain consistent communication with clients, architects, and engineers
• Lead site walks, quality audits, safety oversight, and progress meetings
• Prepare cost reports, change events, and forecasting updates
• Support efficient project handoff, closeout, and warranty processes

Ideal Background

• 5 to 10+ years of experience managing ground up commercial projects
• Medical or healthcare construction experience is strongly preferred

• Strong plan interpretation and technical coordination skills
• Confident communicator able to lead multidisciplinary project teams
