Blacklock Group is exclusively partnered with a leading Private Equity firm headquartered in New York that is seeking a high-performing Associate to join its Energy investment team. This is a unique opportunity to join a top-tier platform with a strong track record of investing across the energy sector.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and execute investment opportunities across the Energy sector, including upstream, midstream, power & utilities, energy services, and energy transition assets
  • Lead financial modeling efforts, including LBOs, project-level returns analyses, sensitivity cases, and downside scenarios
  • Conduct industry research, market mapping, and competitive analysis to support investment theses and identify emerging opportunities in energy and infrastructure
  • Assist in the preparation of Investment Committee materials, including memos, valuation work, and risk assessments
  • Coordinate and manage third-party due diligence providers, including technical consultants, market advisors, and legal teams
  • Partner with portfolio company management teams on value creation initiatives, operational improvements, strategic planning, and ongoing performance monitoring
  • Collaborate closely with Vice Presidents, Principals, and Partners throughout all stages of the transaction lifecycle
  • Qualifications:

    • 2–3 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, project finance, or another buy-side investment role, ideally with exposure to the Energy or Infrastructure sectors
    • Strong financial modeling skills with a deep understanding of valuation, deal structures, and capital markets
    • Demonstrated interest in the Energy sector, including traditional energy, renewables, and/or energy transition themes
    • Highly proficient in Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with CapIQ, Wood Mackenzie, Enverus, or other sector-specific data sources is advantageous
    • Exceptional communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple workstreams under tight timelines
    • Bachelor's degree from a top-tier institution with an excellent academic record
